I can only assume that at least one member of the Royal Household was still enjoying their Christmas Break at Sandringham, hence why Her Majesty's Court Postmaster was present to allow the use of these CDS cancels... (Only he can authorise the use of these ones)..... Then because of the security aspect, I also suspect that 'at least' one of the covers serviced had to go through a process that cleared them for onward mailing - hence the cachet...
