Signed by Rt Rev. Harold Miller (Ordained in the Church of Ireland as a deacon in 1976 and as a priest in 1977. From 1976 to 1979, he served his curacy at Saint Nicholas' Church, Carrickfergus, Belfast, in the Diocese of Connor. He then moved to England, where he was chaplain of St John's College, Nottingham between 1979 and 1984. He returned to Belfast, and was a chaplain at Queen's University Belfast from 1984 to 1989. In 1989, he returned to parish ministry having been appointed Rector of the Carrigrohane Union of Parishes in the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross. He was also a Canon of Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral (Cork Cathedral) from 1994 to 1997. He was elected Bishop of Down and Dromore on 18 February 1997. He was consecrated a bishop on 25 April 1997).
