1971 Literary Anniversaries - Stuart - Galashields, Selkirkshire CDS

Amazing Stuart cover with the Single 7½p Sir Walter Scott stamp cancelled with the highly relevant Galashields, Selkirkshire CDS.

Scott was appointed Sheriff-Depute of Selkirkshire in 1799 & he then built a gothic castle "Abbotsford" near Galashields which was completed in 1811 - He also died at "Abbotsford" on 21/09/1832.
