TS-165 - 40th Anniversary - Concorde 001
In December 1967 at Toulouse, with over 1,100 guests present, the first prototype Concorde 001 was ceremonially rolled out for the media. With the British prototype almost complete, British technology minister Tony Benn, a previous British Postmaster General, announced at Toulouse that henceforth the British aircraft would also be called Concorde as opposed to the previous English spelling of Concord - the "e", he said, stood for "excellence, England, Europe and entente".
